FAQs
What can I expect during my first therapy session?
In our first session, we'll spend time getting to know each other. I’ll ask questions about your goals, what brought you to therapy, and any concerns you have. It's also a chance for you to ask me questions and ensure you feel comfortable with the process. There’s no pressure to share everything right away — we go at your pace.
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes, I offer secure virtual sessions for clients anywhere in Ontario. I use a PHIPA-compliant video platform to ensure your privacy is protected.
Is therapy covered by insurance?
Many extended health benefit plans in Canada cover therapy for services provided by a range of mental health providers, including Registered Psychotherapist. I encourage you to check with your provider to confirm your coverage details, including whether they require a specific credential. I provide receipts that you can submit for reimbursement.
How long does therapy take?
Therapy is a highly individual process. Some people find a few sessions helpful for specific issues, while others benefit from longer-term support. We will collaborate to find the pace and duration that feels right for you.
Are our sessions confidential?
Yes. Everything you share in therapy is kept confidential with a few legal exceptions: if there is risk of harm to yourself or others, or in cases involving child protection concerns. I will explain confidentiality in more detail during our first meeting.
What type of issues do you help with?
I work with adults navigating challenges like anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, life transitions, grief, and self-esteem. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy — seeking support is a strength.
What happens if I need to cancel a session?
I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Sessions cancelled with less notice may be subject to a cancellation fee. I understand that emergencies happen and will do my best to be flexible.
